Agriculture is a small world- we all know that. Many of us live, work, and build our lives within tight-knit communities, businesses, and right alongside our families. That’s a beautiful thing….and sometimes, a complicated one.

Farming isn’t just a job. It’s a lifestyle, a legacy, and a responsibility that often weighs heavily. And sometimes the stories we carry-the ones that have shaped us or challenged us-feel too personal, too close, or too raw to share with our name attached.

And that’s not just true on the farm. Even in the ag business world, things can feel small. People talk. Word travels. And sometimes, naming names just isn’t wise or helpful – even if the experience is real, the lesson is valid, and the feelings are still being felt.

But those stories still matter. And someone out there might need to hear them.

That’s why Our Way of Life welcomes anonymous submissions. 

Maybe you’ve learned a lesson the hard way and want to pass it on.

Maybe you need to process something difficult, and putting it into words helps.

Maybe you want to say out loud what so many of us feel but few talk about.

Your story can make a difference, whether it’s signed or not.

While we may publish your piece anonymously, every submission must include your name privately. This help us maintain the integrity of the platform and opens the door for follow-up communication if needed. Your identity will never be shared publicly, and every effort will be made to protect your privacy and keep your voice safe.

You’re not alone in this life, and your story deserves a place at the table.

I always encourage submitting a few photographs with your story—whether it’s a moment from your farm, your family, your animals, or something that just captures the feeling behind your words. Photos can bring a story to life in a way nothing else can.

That said, you are not required to include photos. If you don’t have any that fit or don’t want to share them, that’s perfectly okay.

If no photos are provided, I may choose to include a relevant stock image that fits the tone or subject of your piece. This helps with visual flow and connection, especially for readers scrolling through.

Your words will always lead – the images are just there to support your story.

Photo Policy

If you include photos, you retain ownership but give permission for them to be used in your story on Our Way of Life and in related promotions. Stock images may be used if none are submitted.
