Cream Cheese Buttermilk Cinnamon Sugar Biscuits

These easy homemade biscuits with just a touch of sweet are a great treat to eat and give to friends!

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (cut into small chunks or cubes) straight out of refrigerator
  • 4 Tablespoons butter (cut into small chunks or cubes) straight out of refrigerator
  • cups buttermilk
  • Extra flour for rolling out dough
  • 4 Tablespoons melted butter

Instructions
 

  • To a large bowl add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda - give a good stir
  • Now to the bowl add the small chunks or cubes of butter and cream cheese and with a pastry cutter or your hands mix ingredients until it resembles a course meal
  • Now stir in the buttermilk until combined, dough will be sticky and shaggy - don't panic
  • Dust your rolling surface with some flour and turn dough out - knead dough folding it over a few times to work some flour in so it's not as sticky
  • Now using a rolling pin or just pressing the dough out with your hands until it is roughly 3/4 inch think
  • Using a biscuit cutter or a small juice glass cut your biscuits our and place them on a lined cookie sheet not touching each other
  • Bake in a pre-heated 425° oven for 9 minutes than brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and bake another 2-3 minutes

Notes

  • Cinnamon Sugar is a 1/2 cup granulated white sugar combined with 2 Tablespoons of cinnamon well mixed.
