Red, White and Blue Jello Stars - Patriotic Finger Jello
Published by Jent
These layered finger Jello stars are a festive, no-fuss treat that brings the party to your picnic table. Vibrant red, creamy white, and bold blue layers make this dessert a hit with kids and adults alike. Cut into stars or squares and watch them disappear!
Boil 1½ cups of water and pour into a mixing bowl.
Add the red Jello powder and 2 envelopes/packets of unflavored gelatin. Stir until everything is fully dissolved.
Add ice cubes and cold water until the liquid reaches 3 cups. Stir until the ice mostly melts.
Pour the red mixture into your 15x10 jelly roll pan.
Place it in the refrigerator on a level surface and chill until completely set, about 30-45 minutes.
Note: If you're using a smaller pan, like a 9x13, layers will be thicker and may take up to an hour to fully set.
White Layer
Boil another 1½ cups of water.
Add 2 envelopes/packets of unflavored gelatin and stir to dissolve.
Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and let the mixture cool to room temperature - this is important so it doesn't melt the red layer.
Gently pour the white layer over the fully set red layer.
Chill again until set, about 30-45 minutes in a jelly roll pan, or longer is using a smaller one.
Blue Layer
Boil 1½ cups of water and add the blue Jello powder and 2 enevelopes/packets of unflavored gelatin. Stir well.
Add ice and water to bring the liquid to 3 cups total.
Let it cool to room temperature before pouring it over the set white layer.
Refrigerate until the entire dessert is fully set, at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
Cutting and Serving
Use any size star-shaped cookie cutter to cut fun patriotic shapes, or simply cut into 2x2 inch squares.
Serve chilled and store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
Notes
I use a 15x10 jelly roll pan for this recipe - it creates the perfect balance of thickness and chill time.
Using a smaller pan like 9x13? Your layers will be thicker and yield fewer servings. It may take longer to set, so give each layer extra time in the fridge before adding the next.
Use a level shelf in your fridge for clean layers and avoid slanty stars.
Let each layer cool to room temp before pouring to prevent bleeding or mixing.
