I love stories—not the polished, overly edited, third-person kind. I mean the real ones—the everyday moments that might not seem big at the time but somehow stick with us. The ones that make up the fabric of our lives and quietly leave a mark on our memory and heart. The ones that are core memories, the ones we don’t even know we’re creating.

That’s exactly why I’m diving headfirst into a storytelling series here on Farmwife Feeds, Our Way of Life.

An adult and child holding hands, standing in front of blurred cows, symbolizing generational connection and shared farm life.

The Vision Behind Our Way of Life

Stories from the farm, from all generations and all corners of agriculture- modern ag, ag business, livestock, row crops, ranching, young and old, farm kids, men and women. Real stories of the real people who grow, raise, work, build, and live this way of life – our way.

We are more than just the food on the table or the tractors in the field—we are a patchwork of voices, lives, legacies, and grit. I want to preserve these stories. While social media lets those of us interested in sharing our stories do so, it’s not for everyone. This place can be a one-and-done story for you or a spot for multiple entries you want to tell and share.

A JohnDeere combine silhouetted against a glowing sunset druing harvest, with dust rising from the field in a peaceful end-of-day scene.

I believe we all have stories to tell. And while we love our big wins and perfect sunsets, it’s the hard stories that build us and make us appreciate the good. The down-and-dirty, honest ones.

While we don’t all have the same farm, the same crops, the same equipment, or the same stories. We do all know what it feels like to pour ourselves into this life, heart and soul.

I want to hear from the guy who remembers when a day’s work meant hitching up a team of horses. I want to hear from the third-grade girl who can explain the birth of a calf or the life cycle of a soybean better than most adults. I want the new wife who just married into the farm. I want the women who have been farming long before “women in ag” was a thing, those deep in succession planning, and those just dreaming of their first 40 acres.

Every voice matters. Every perspective counts.

While this way of life doesn’t look the same for everyone, it can feel the same. And sharing the joy, the heartbreak, the pride, and the exhaustion connects us.

Not Just “Farmers” – Every Corner of Agriculture Counts

When I say I want ag stories, I don’t just mean those driving tractors or riding horses on the range. I’m talking about the seed salesmen, the FFA advisors, the feed mill workers, the ones running the books from the kitchen counter while supper bakes.

I’m talking about the farm kids who grew up to be ag teachers, livestock nutritionists, vets, and agronomists. About the ag entrepreneurs building something from scratch.

A group of well-worn muddy work botts lined up near a washer and dryer, capturing the daily grit of farm life.

I’ll be right there with you, boots on and heart wide open, sharing my own stories. The good, the hard, the funny, and the deeply personal. Because I won’t ask you to share if I’m not willing to do the same.

Our Way of Life – Storytelling Series

This is Your Invitation

If you’ve ever had a moment that made you laugh, cry, cuss, or pray – write it down.

If you’ve ever looked at your family across a field, pasture, gate, or truck bed and thought, “This is what matters”write it down.

If you’ve ever wanted to tell the world what it really means to live this life – write it down.

Then send it my way.

I’ll publish these stories here on Farmwife Feeds as part of an ongoing series. I don’t know where this will lead – maybe nowhere big, or perhaps it turns into something beautiful and lasting. Either way, this will be a collection of voices that matter.

Why This Matters

This might help the outside world understand who we are and why we do what we do. That matters. So if that’s you – welcome and stick around.

But if you’re knee deep in this life or just tip-toeing in – this is for you. To remind us that we’re not out here alone. That someone else has walked this road, cried these tears, laughed at the same kind of crazy, and felt the quiet kind of joy at the end of a long day.

The kind of stories that get told around the family table over and over – the ones we laugh about every time, even though we’ve all heard them a hundred times before. The kind that pop up when something random happens and someone says, “Remember that one time….” And suddenly we’re all right back there like it was yesterday.

They’re the kind of stories that live in the in-between moments – unexpected, unpolished, and full of heat. The ones that remind us who we are, where we’ve been, and how lucky we are to share this life together.
