These BBQ Smoked Pork Chops are about the easiest thing in the world to make and taste amazing. Seriously your family will think your a whiz in the kitchen and at the grill!
After I got everyone up and moving this morning I sat on the porch swing for a minute. The sky was a brilliant blue, two calves were playing in the barn lot and the yard was a disaster!
Dirtbikes, gas cans, buckets, shovels, a ladder leaning up against a random tree, a blanket in another tree, a hula hoop……..that’s just in what we consider the front yard. The back yard has its own issues and I smiled! A genuine smile not the ‘uh she has lost her marbles’ kind of smile!
I read in farm magazine once that as you drive across rural america there aren’t many farms with swingsets anymore! Where were all the young families raising the next generation? The yards and barn lots all nicely manicured with nothing out of place; only people without young kids had time for that.
Mowing our yard is an exercise routine all its own, on and off the mower picking random things up, dodging 4 wheeler ruts and in dry years we only have to mow over our finger septic system!!
But I don’t care, it doesn’t bother me. I do 95% of the yard work, I have to look at it the most and every random item means that my kids love the outdoors and our home! I hear Chris tell the kids “Stay off Mom’s yard” but I tell them not to worry about it, someday I might have a nice manicured yard but I don’t need one today, just have fun!
So while we did take down the swingset because our kids had outgrown it, our yard still lets those cruising by know that next generation to carry on Campbell Grain and Livestock are going strong and still making messes!
And with that I got up and decided to tackle mowing the yard and embrace the life that five minutes ago made me smile! I also decided we should enjoy this grilling weather while it lasted. On my way out I grabbed some pork chops out of the freezer to enjoy on the patio for supper!

BBQ Smoked Pork Chops
Smoked chops are one the easiest meats to grill. Low and slow will warm them all the way through and put beautiful grill marks on them.

- Barbecue Sauce
- Low and Slow - the key to a moist smoked chop is off direct heat and cook slow to warm all the way through.
- Using a pastry brush, brush barbecue on both sides of your smoked chops.
- Place the pork chops on the closest rack to the heat source after a few minutes flip chops-the goal is a nice set of grill marks on each side without over-cooking.
- Move to the upper rack to fully cook meat to proper temperature.
- Depending on the thickness of your chops, use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
