These bars freeze well so they make a great plan ahead snack. Be sure they are in an air tight container and of course completely cool before placing then in the freezer.  Great for those times when you are in the mood to bake you can easily double the recipe to make them all the same. Or make a couple of different recipes with different combinations of add-ins.

Sweetened Baked Granola Bars

I bake my bars in a 9×13 pan lined with parchment paper to easily get them out to cut. But Amazon has lots of bar pans that would be amazing to have to bake these. Each bar would evenly baked with crunchy all the way around. Some day I want this bar pan for my granola bars!

Ingredients

Basic Granola Bar Ingredients

  • cups Oats, quick cooking
  • cups Rice Krispies
  • 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk

My Add-Ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350°
  • Line a 9x13 baking dish with enough parchment paper so that it comes up the sides and hangs over by an inch or so. This makes removing the bars from the pan easy.
You can also use a bar pan to bake as well.
  • In a large bowl stir together the oats and the Rice Krispies
  • Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and add in any other ingredients that you'd like to flavor your bars with and stir carefully until everything is combined and coated in the sweetened condensed milk.
  • Put into the lined 9x13 and lightly press flat and even in the dish.
  • Bake for 23-26 minutes until lightly browned around the edges, remove from oven and allow to cool then cut into bars or squares.
  • Store in an air tight container. These also freeze well!
