Hot chocolate has forever been a part of my life, my Mom is a hot chocolate connoisseur so when I needed the best hot chocolate recipe I could find I called her.
Her recipes have changed over the years but this she says is the best one she has come up with and I think she is right! The best part about it is how super simple it is and the creamy way the Dove chocolates melt in the warm milk!
While the actual hot chocolate recipe has changed many times what hasn’t changed is her secret ingredient, it puts her’s over the top, makes it decadent, and if you are making it for your sweetheart they will love you forever!

That’s right, a big dip of vanilla ice cream goes right into that steaming mug of chocolate goodness. I love to make this for the kids after they have been outside working with the cattle.
Sweet Valentine Dove Hot Chocolate
We had to fix the fence, put out hay, and bed the cattle down in below-freezing temperatures the other day and the first thing the boy asked for when he came in was “Grandma’s Hot Chocolate”.
I had just bought some Dove Valentine heart-shaped chocolates so I heated up some milk, dropped in a couple of chocolates, added the scoop of ice cream, and topped it off with whipped cream and Valentine sprinkles – love in a mug!

Sweet Valentine Dove Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- Milk
- Dove Chocolate's
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Optional: Whipped Cream sprinkles
Instructions
- Heat milk on the stovetop or microwave, , drop in 1-2 Dove Chocolate candies of your choice and stir to melt and incorporate with milk.
- Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
